No One Above the Law: Nepali Congress General Secretary Asserts on Gold Smuggling

Rampur: Nepali Congress General Secretary and member of the House of Representatives, Bishwo Prakash Sharma, emphasized that the government is committed to holding accountable anyone involved in gold smuggling. He made this statement during a press meet organized by the Nepal Press Union's Palpa chapter.

Sharma reiterated that Nepali Congress will not obstruct any efforts to bring individuals implicated in gold smuggling to justice. He emphasized that irrespective of their positions or posts, those found involved in the scam will be subject to thorough investigation by the Central Investigation Bureau of the Nepal Police. He added that a study team will also be formed to delve into various aspects of the gold smuggling case.

Addressing concerns about the protection of wrongdoers, Sharma asserted that neither his party nor the government would shield anyone acting against the law. He emphasized the necessity for all political parties to collaborate in eradicating corruption and irregularities from the country.

Switching topics, Sharma highlighted the importance of communal harmony in Nepal, emphasizing that the country's identity is rooted in its secular and harmonious nature. He stressed that no community should hurt the sentiments of others.

Lastly, Sharma noted that every political party has alternative leadership options, suggesting that leadership transitions are integral to the democratic process.
